Montblanc pays tribute to the literary genius of the English poet, short story master and novelist
With its Writers Edition, Montblanc celebrates the great figures who have made their mark on world literature, moving audiences with the power and artistry of their words. The latest limited edition pays tribute to the talent and legacy of Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865 –1936), beloved author of The Jungle Book. One of the most popular writers in the United Kingdom in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kipling had a lasting impact on the world of literature as a major innovator in the art of the short story. Born in India, he was very connected to the country and its culture, and became an enthusiastic promoter of orientalism. The first English-language writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 42, he remains one of the award’s youngest recipients to this day. Crafted in Montblanc Ateliers, the design of the limited edition writing instruments is inspired by The Jungle Book and If, a much-admired poem written in the form of paternal advice to a son.

One of the author’s most famous works, the Jungle Book is a collection of stories about human archetypes in animal form. The colourful characters in his fables are represented throughout the design of the edition.
Precious matte resin of the cap and barrel in ‘jungle’ green colour mirrors the colour of the cover of the first U.S edition of Kipling’s masterpiece.
Clip in the shape of a wolf’s head is a reference to the wolf pack responsible for the upbringing of the orphan human boy Mowgli, teaching him all the valuable lessons in life.
Cap ring and cone ring are engraved with words from his poem “If”: “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…you’ll be a man my son”.
Au750 solid gold rhodium coated nib is decorated with a desk globe, symbolic of Kipling’s travels as a travel correspondent and a regular traveller.
Initials “RK” featured on the cap of the Fountain Pen, Ballpoint, Rollerball and Mechanical Pencil come from an original letter purchased by Montblanc, featuring extremely rare handwritten initials.
To complement the pieces, a new khaki-coloured ink inspired by the jungle, as well as a khaki Italian calfskin notebook featuring a printed design of the wolves. A single pen pouch makes a sophisticated travel companion for the Writers Edition, decorated with graphic motifs from the collection.

Limitation of 1895 reflects the year he wrote the famous poem that tells the story of a father who is giving advice to his son about how to enter the world.
Tiger pattern of the skeletonized gold-coated overlay on the jungle green resin lacquered barrel is a reference to Shere Khan, the fictional Bengal tiger and the main antagonist of book.
Monkeys adorn the cap, while the clip ring depicts the cold lairs, home of the monkeys inspired by the city Chittorgarh that Kipling visited.
Au750 solid gold nib features an engraving of the elephant, another character from The Jungle Book.

Partially rhodium-coated Au750 solid gold overlay depicts bamboo shoots in the jungle with 3-dimensional monkeys climbing around the cap.
The eyes of the wolf and the monkeys are set with brown diamonds, while the clip is also embellished with a sparkling brown diamond.
