Qatar National Library will offer an exciting lineup of events for the month of May, aimed at offering visitors engaging learning opportunities across a range of topics such as technology, heritage, and arts. The Library's schedule features an array of events, including workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and performances for visitors to explore diverse subjects, learn new skills, and immerse themselves in culture and entertainment.


On 2 May, the Library invites visitors to attend a presentation on how the QNL mobile application can help members access the Library's collections and services. Presentations will be given in English and Arabic.


On 4 May, the Library will host the “Mommy to Be: The Speaker Series.” The lecture will be presented by Dr. Sami Omar, Attending Physician in Women’s Psychiatry at Sidra Hospital, who will discuss the common symptoms of depression during pregnancy, postpartum depression and how to take care of your mental health.


On 10 May, the Library will host a series of inspiring and empowering workshops designed to help you embrace your inner self. Attendees will be expected to come along with a beginner's mindset, enjoy discovering their authentic selves, and be ready for personal and professional development topics.


On the same day, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra will be back at the Library where they will perform “Strings of Romance in Tchaikovsky and Borodin’s Chamber Music Masterpieces”.


Later on in the month, the Library invites visitors to a calligraphy and illumination workshop that aims to teach participants the art of calligraphy and decorative manuscript illumination. It will provide them with opportunities to develop their skills and inspire them to further creativity and artistic expression. The calligraphy workshops will run from 12-14 May and the illumination workshop from 16-18 May.


On the 75th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, the Library will host a seminar on 15 May entitled "Archiving as a Human-Knowledge Action to Overcome the Nakba through People", in collaboration with Khazayn Foundation for Community Archives. The seminar will present a brief overview of the Heritage Library's diverse and rare collections related to the recorded history of Palestine as well as discuss the importance of archiving through the work of Khazayn Foundation as a community project that starts from people and returns to them.


On 23, 24 and 25 May, in celebration of “Global Accessibility Awareness Day”, the Library’s Assistive Technology Center will be providing a tour to present accessibility features and services of the Library, assistive technology devices, and online resources that let our patrons experience the Library in full.


The Library’s IFLA regional center for the preservation of documentary heritage in the Arab region and the Middle East invites visitors to a lecture on 16 May to learn about the Syrian Design Archive. This is a non-profit documentary project to help archive graphic design elements and visuals including Arabic typography, street signs, stamps and media and preserve them in a digital open archive.


On the occasion of “Mental Health Awareness” month, the Library will host an event on 20 May for visitors to interact with mental health experts from different disciplines - psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, pharmacologists and others - to learn how to deal with different mental health issues. This will be an interactive program with multiple breakout sessions.


Also, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Qatar, the Library will host a panel exhibition in collaboration with the Georgian Embassy from 21 May to 21 June that will look at the history of Arabic manuscripts in Georgia. The exhibition will highlight the Arab manuscript collection preserved in the Georgian National Center of Manuscripts.


On 27 May, the Library invites visitors to celebrate the 97th anniversary of the birth of one of the most noted environmentalists of the 20th century, Rachel Carson. Her book, The Silent Spring, sparked the modern environmental revolution in the United States and elsewhere.


On 29 May, the Library will be hosting the second “Cultural Salon” event – a platform that promotes dialogue and communication with subject-matter experts, with the aim of creating a positive atmosphere that enriches culture and raises public awareness. The event will focus on artificial intelligence and more information will be shared closer to the date.

Curated Tasting Menu and Lunch Specials





​​Multi-award-winning pan-Indian restaurant, Jamavar Doha, announces a new summer menu crafted by the culinary mastermind and Michelin Starred Jamavar London’s Culinary Director & Executive, Chef Surender Mohan will remain available throughout the season accompanied by a Majestic Business Lunch, Botanical Masterclass and specially curated tasting menus.


For patrons craving the essence of Jamavar London, located on Mayfair’s renowned Mount Street, the second international outpost of the critically-acclaimed Jamavar in Doha is transportive having hosted Chef Surender over Eid Al Fitr to reveal a menu that reflects his profound passion and distinctive yet holistic approach to Indian cuisine. The Summer menu boasts an array of exclusive dishes inspired by the diverse and rich flavors of India. The menu showcases sustainable and locally-sourced produce and aims to provide a stronger foundation for flavor with a goal to also reduce food waste to a large extent featuring appetizers such as the Kerala Style Beef Uthappam and succulent Tandoor dishes such as Paneer Tikka Panchporan, Mahi Malai Tikka, and Tandoori Lamb Chops. Patrons can select new choices of mains such as Jamavar London’s signature Dum Nalli Biryani and Hyderabadi Bhuna Gosht. The adventure continues with the perfect sharing-style desserts like the summer special Burnt Mango Tart and selection of sorbets.





In addition to the new summer menu, Jamavar Doha offers a Majestic Business Lunch to embark on the trail of royal flavors every Sunday to Thursday from 12:30-4:00 pm for QAR 120 per person for a three-course meal with choice of vegetarian, non-vegetarian and vegan classics. For an interactive evening, try the 45-minute Botanical Masterclass at the vibrant apothecary bar to pair the royal tastes of India available every Thursday and Friday for QAR 275 per person where guests can learn about the insights of Gin and five different types of Gin tasting pairings with a Royal Kebab platter for dinner.


As the mango season draws to a close, Jamavar Doha will offer a specially curated tasting menu featuring the signature Pan-Indian style, in celebration of India’s prized Alphonso mango season. The limited-time menu showcases the versatility of the Alphonso mango, featuring a five-course tasting menu highlighting its sweet, tangy and floral notes available from May 17th to the 27th from 12:30 pm-11:00 pm for QAR 225 per person.


Chef Surender Mohan’s culinary career spans almost three decades. His cooking takes inspiration from India’s royal heritage and incorporates traditional cooking techniques passed onto him from generations including secret recipes taught to him by the Nair family matriarch; Leela Nair. He currently lives in London and delivers the finest quality dishes at Jamavar London, where under his leadership alongside Co-Founder Samyukta Nair, the restaurant won back its Michelin star in 2022.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar announced additional network expansion within the GCC Region

Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar held a strong presence on the first day of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) conference. Showcasing the FIA World Endurance Championship hypercar, Qatar Airways garnered heavy attention around the stand. The World’s Best Airline offered ATM visitors a chance to drive the vehicle through a simulation, and also provided a relaxing lounge area reflecting the airline’s standards on luxury and comfort, quality and hospitality all in one stand.


As recently announced, the airline significantly grew its network to over 160 destinations and focused on expansion in the Gulf region.

A press conference hosted by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker; Chief Operating Officer, Hamad International Airport, Engr. Badr Al Meer; and Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Thierry Antinori highlighted a network expansion and tourism developments.


H.E. Mr. Al Baker introduced the addition of a new destination, Tabouk, Saudi Arabia, as well as the resumption of service to Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.

The airline currently flies to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, and more recently, will begin services to Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE. Qatar Airways currently operates 84 weekly flights to the UAE, firmly cementing the importance of the region.
