Manta Ray Season - Witness Manta Ray Migration at Milaidhoo Island Maldives

Milaidhoo Island, situated in the UNESCO protected marine reserve Baa Atoll in the Maldives, is the perfect location to witness the annual gathering of hundreds of manta rays from May to October.

This year, guests who book to stay at Milaidhoo between May and October 2021 direct on will be entered into a raffle to win an exclusive private cruise on Milaidhoo’s luxury yacht to snorkel and swim with the Manta Rays in Hanifaru Bay during their stay. One lucky winner will be selected for the once-in-a-lifetime experience each month throughout the season.

Manta Rays (Manta Alfredi) migrate to the atoll’s plankton-rich waters every year from May to October. Milaidhoo, home to a spectacular house-reef, is only 15 minutes by speedboat from Hanifaru Bay, the biggest Manta feeding station in the world. Guests can see, swim and snorkel with these gentle giants of the ocean, witnessing them search for and feed on microscopic plankton.

These special excursions to Hanifaru Bay can be arranged throughout the season, coordinated with the reserve’s expert marine park rangers who ensure the most rewarding sighting opportunities, and supported by Milaidhoo’s resident Marine Biologist. For more of an up close and personal experience, the team at the Ocean Stories Aquatic Centre at Milaidhoo has identified several secret diving spots outside of the protected marine reserve where Mantas congregate, and diving is possible.

Those wishing to visit can take advantage of the “Discover Milaidhoo” offer, with rates starting from $1,535 per night in a Water Pool Villa inclusive of half board, based on two sharing, applicable for stays until 31st October 2021. The offer can be booked on or by emailing
