MDIF is a permanent, philanthropic initiative by Mouawad, whose purpose is to create a world where individuals have better opportunities to thrive and prosper, regardless of their race, gender or socio-economic status. MDIF focuses on bettering lives through education and skills development. The Mouawad video includes footage of five South African nationals who were supported by an MDIF-funded program in collaboration with the South African State Diamond Trader that offered specialised training at Mouawad’s Bangkok Diamond Manufacturing facility. This program equipped the trainees with the skills to go on to build sustainable careers in the diamond industry.
Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, a South African national, appears in the video to lend her support to the message that no matter what is on the outside, it’s on the inside that makes us human. Her message is a call for unity above all. Understanding this truth and the powerful unity that comes with knowing we are all the same is a core value of the Mouawad Diamond Impact Fund.
