Private Living, Reimagined Through Purpose, Place, and Presence

SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS MALDIVES launches SIX & SIX PRIVATE RESIDENCES, a new residential concept designed to redefine luxury living in the Maldives through thoughtful design, cultural connection and a genuine sense of place. The launch offers a rare opportunity to own an elegant overwater or beachfront residence in one of the most coveted places on earth.
With the vision to create six resorts, on six islands, in six years, the company is making a small number of villas available for private purchase on each of the islands.
The residences are designed to resonate with a rarefied audience, appealing equally to astute investors and those seeking an exceptional island lifestyle. For investors, the opportunity is underpinned by the Maldives’ recent record of sustained tourism growth providing strong rental demand. For lifestyle owners, ownership unlocks a quietly privileged way of life — a refined retreat set within nature, where privacy, tranquillity and a sense of complete escape define the experience.
Yet while the Maldives is home to an abundance of world-class resorts, many follow familiar global formulas. SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS was conceived with a different ambition: to reinterpret barefoot luxury through a distinctly Maldivian lens, rather than replicate international resort templates. Architecture, experiences and daily life are shaped not by global trends, but by the rhythms, craftsmanship and cultural DNA of the islands themselves.
The CEO and co-founder of SIX & SIX is Laith Pharaon - the visionary behind Orca Holding — known for shaping hospitality icons like Six Senses and Soho House. Laith brought a community-first philosophy to SIX & SIX, placing Maldivian hospitality at the centre from day one.
“The Maldives has long been a stage for luxury, but I felt there was space for something else. In recent years, it has been dominated by large luxury hotel brands and universal standards. The goal was to recapture what truly calls people here — the intimacy of island life, where time slows and the local world invites you in. We have extended this beyond hospitality to the creation of branded private residences for those seeking a true haven from modern life.”
He continues:
“SIX & SIX isn’t just a collection of resorts; it’s a philosophy of presence. That’s where the Rayyithun philosophy began. Rayyithun is the Maldivian word for ‘People of the Islands.’ For us, it’s a living system of archetypes drawn from island life - fishermen, drummers, toddy tappers, builders, mentors and many others. Each island is brought to life through this cultural framework and its stories.”
This philosophy is mirrored within SIX & SIX PRIVATE RESIDENCES, led by Director of Private Residences, Marco Bonini, who brings more than 25 years’ experience in ultra-luxury hospitality and branded residences with pioneering brands such as Soneva in the Maldives & Thailand, Escapade Silverstone in the UK and Al Marjan Island in Dubai.
“Following a thorough strategic appraisal into the latest trends shaping ultra-luxury hospitality and branded residences, the landscape is clearly evolving,” says Bonini. “Buyers and guests are seeking quieter, more meaningful sophistication.”
It is here that SIX & SIX enters the scene - not with cookie-cutter properties, but with a limited collection of homes. Each residence is crafted to reflect the unique character of its island and the richness of local Maldivian culture. Ownership at SIX & SIX offers more than a home — it’s a way of living shaped by privacy, place, and the rhythms of the local world.
From seamless arrivals without check-in desks to discreet technology working quietly in the background, the experience is designed to feel instinctively like coming home — a refined sanctuary for families seeking to own a stunning beachfront or overwater home in the Maldives, where every detail resonates with authenticity and beauty, as Marco explains: “We believe in creating a sense of place.”
Sustainability underpins the brand at every level. For SIX & SIX, responsible luxury is not a marketing buzzword but a fundamental imperative. With more than 80% of high-end travellers willing to invest more in brands that reflect their values, the brand’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community integration is embedded from the ground up. The goal is for all SIX & SIX islands to obtain EarthCheck certification — with work beginning ahead of each opening to ensure sustainability is built into every layer from day one.
The journey begins with RAH GILI MALDIVES set to open in February 2026, followed by the ultra-luxurious DON MAAGA MALDIVES in late 2026. Each island will present its own narrative, architectural language and curated experiences, united by the brand’s core philosophy of authenticity, discretion and cultural depth.
RAH GILI MALDIVES is in the South Malé Atoll, a 40-minute boat ride from the Velana International Airport in Malé, and benefits from an exclusive location next to a dolphin sanctuary. The sleek homes are designed with playful and bohemian touches, each rooted by nature-led architecture and built with local craftmanship. Owners can enjoy the resort’s six signature dining experiences alongside vibrant social and cultural programming.
As Marco concludes:
“The message is unmistakable: quiet luxury is not a trend - it’s a movement. It’s immersive, intentional and rooted in authenticity. With SIX & SIX PRIVATE ISLANDS, the brand is not simply developing private residences. It is creating places of permanence—crafted with care, shaped by culture, and made to be passed on. For those who will call a SIX & SIX residence their own, it is not just an address. It is a return.”
