KARL LAGERFELD SPRING–SUMMER 2022 COLLECTION

KARL LAGERFELD is pleased to announce its Spring-Summer 2022 collection. Building on Karl’s fondness for new beginnings, the new collection invokes a sense of a renewal and cultural reset, while celebrating life in its purest form. Seen as an upgrade to the worlds’ circularity, the collection, known as ‘LIFE 2.0’, draws its inspiration from the basic natural elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. This influence translates across the collection through the selection of prints, fabrics, and color palette, while maintaining a sleek rock aesthetic that offers newness, confidence, and above all, evolution.

The first selection includes a wide range of warm-weather styles with eye-catching prints and elegant, coordinated looks and on-point separates. Inspired by the elements of Earth and Air, this concept comes across through the striking color choice and selection of prints. For womenswear, seasonal patterns include nature-inspired, florals used on lightweight parkas and silk dresses, as well as an exotic zebra print, showcased on a selection of casual and more sophisticated items.

Key looks include an ultra-marine lightweight tailored coat, while the sleek KL- monogram pattern is showcased on select pieces and coordinated pieces. A sleek, faux leather shirt and matching shorts, as well as a faux leather, sleeveless jumpsuit stand out in the assortment. Embroidery techniques and perforated detailing are prominently featured on others, with broderie anglaise pieces, with a true KARL twist, crafted from organic cotton. The selection also includes sharp, seasonal outerwear, knitwear designs, a transformable trench, and tailored looks that work well in or out of the office.

For menswear, Safari suiting, knitwear, and the elegant monogram are also dominant, including on a few gender-neutral, denim looks. Naturally, the branded logo also has its place among a good portion of selected pieces. It wouldn’t be a KARL collection without a fresh interpretation of new, seasonal logos. This season it’s applied in a variety of ways on matching denim separates, casual jerseys, and statement-making outerwear pieces. Sustainable and recycled fabrics play a key role in the pieces, with textures, material mixes, and graphics drawing inspiration from the land’s diverse cultures. All-over plant prints adorn shirts, T-shirts, pants and outerwear, including a reversible nylon bomber for two looks in one. Hero pieces include a modular zipped bomber jacket, a blazer with a contrasting pleat at the lapel, and a black-and-white split track suit with a padded logo detail.

The accessories assortment has a few new groups that are in keeping with the season’s theme and detailing. The K/Punched group features the essential logo on a bias and in a sleek, perforated design, while the K/Woven Letters assortment implements Karl lettering and lightweight raffia to create a unique, summery feel in bright colorways. Signature styles such as the K/Seven and K/Autograph are respectively updated with a zebra print and crochet techniques that seamlessly circle back to the overall theme of LIFE 2.0.

Perfect for city excursions or even trips to the beach, the woven-raffia K/Signature basket is the ideal summer bag. The K/Signature Soft assortment is available in a range of pop colors, while selected styles are crafted in a soft, jersey fabric, offering a seasonal update with a plush look and feel. Available in vibrant seasonal hues, the K/Letters Woven crossbody can easily carry your everyday essentials.

This season, the K/Saddle selection includes key styles with an eye-catching, whip- stitched trim, while another denim iteration coordinates seamlessly with the ready-to- wear selection.

For menswear, new accessories include the K/Mesh assortment which features the branded logo covered in a sleek, technical mesh that gives the entire selection a utilitarian street-style vibe.

The K/Monogram continues to be a constant across key accessories in different iterations this season. Additionally, the K/Otto group gets a new look with an attractive, camo-inspired jacquard pattern, while the more sustainable Rue St- Guillaume Nylon selection has added a new crossbody style. The same applies to the RSG Saffiano assortment, which now features a bright new color on certain models.

JEWELRY

This season the KARL LAGERFELD jewelry selection expands with a series of earthy and playful styles, in keeping with the LIFE 2.0 theme. The overall look offers an elevated back-to-basics feel, that is visually striking. This can be seen in the use of vibrant colors, expert weaving, and unique braiding techniques.

The aptly named K/Woven collection features a blend of colorful styles implementing a stunning metal woven strap as well as branded KARL lettering. The collection includes earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, with select styles featuring playful 3D Choupette and Karl clasps.

In a similar vein, the K/Braided collection is made from a multi-color cord material featuring Ikonik charms, while summer bracelets are crafted in a woven technique, showcasing a shiny metal Karl or Choupette as a central decorative detail.

The Essential K group is comprised of bold statement pieces that implement the letter K across a statement-making, chain-link necklace and impressive earrings in bright seasonal hues.

The K/Beads selection features a range of necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings in a variety of colors, with playful Ikonic pieces and KARL lettering. Select styles include semi-precious stones like onyx, green and red agate, as well as casual plexi-pieces and rhinestones that offer a light-hearted touch to the overall group.

COLLABORATION WITH AMBER VALLETTA

Given the success of the first collaboration with actress, model, and eco-activist, Amber Valletta, a second collection will be premiering in Spring-Summer 22. This second collaboration includes ready-to-wear styles and continues to implement innovative, premium, and sustainable materials.

The ready-to-wear selection is crafted from organic cotton and includes a tailored jumpsuit, an oversized blazer and matching wide-legged pants. Moreover, this season the Odinabiker jacket is reinterpreted with a sustainable edge that implements recyclable and eco-friendly cactus leather.

The set of accessories in the collaboration continues to build on the popularity of the pleated K/Kushion silhouette. Crafted from vegan cactus leather and colored with organic pigments, the statement bag was inspired by a cushion that Karl Lagerfeld was known to carry with him on his travels around the world. This season, the selection includes smaller styles, such as the K/Kushion clutch and the K/Kushion crossbody.
