PENHALIGON'S EST. LON DON 1870

It was once upon a time.

Not quite such a very long time ago. About 146 years.

William was a barber.

Penhaligon was his name.

He had left behind his Cornish sea,

took a train

and before long was hanging the sign with his name above the new barber’s shop on Jermyn Street.

PENHALIGON’S.

LEGACY OF PETRA

Gradually and all at once -

Petra, the rock, comes into view.

And now in silence, here we stand

admiring ancient wisdoms defined in rock,

in shades of sand.

Ochres and pinks speak of the land

but also of a Mighty hand.

The future and the past collide,

humanity’s truth flung open-wide.

As winds circled through gorges and over hills,

somewhere, here, time stood still.

They came together and mastered rain,

on an isolated, sunbaked sandstone plain.

The oldest city? Civilisation’s glory?

The wand of Moses? There are many origins to this story.

A veritable jewel in the world’s crown, built from earthly labour, but the question now, is can we save her?

«A rose red city half as old as time»

John William Burgon

GACY OF PETRA EAU DE PARFUM

Like a fresh dawn in a shaded valley

bergamot, fennel and green tea open the day

with rising energy, full of promise.

The knowledge that the sun isn’t far behind

is comforted by the rapid arrival

of myrrh and licorice woods.

As an ode to the beauty of myrrh,

this fragrance worships all its facets,

whether evocative of bright lemon or warm balsamic notes,

and the vibration of rich spice,

but also the darkness of smoky incense

made light with a hint of aromatic rosemary.

Sensuality and strength characterize the amber-like glow of a scarlet sunset that emanates at the end of this particular journey.

ORIENTAL WOODY

Myrrh

Liquorice wood

Belambre

Vanilla
